Professional Clinic
Professional advice, consultation and treatment are available
to the public with Dr. Wally Mui, Dr.TCM, R.Ac.
Dr. Mui holds a Ph.D. in Acupuncture from Guangzhou
University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. He is
a master acupuncturist and herbalist with over 23 years of clinical
experience and teaching in treating various conditions in the
fields of internal medicine, gynaecology, dermatology, neurology,
and acute or chronic physical or mental-emotional disorders. His
extensive on-site herbal clinic contains well over 350 types of
whole Chinese herbs with which to individualize your herbal prescription.
His comprehensive treatment plans include diet therapy for wellness
and health maintenance.

Intern Clinic
The intern clinic, where treatments are given by upper-year students
of the ICTCM, is open to the public. Consultations are free and
both acupuncture and Tui Na massage are offered at a reduced rate.
Students and seniors also receive discounts. Chinese herbal prescriptions
are available. The clinic runs year-round and is under the supervision
of Dr. Mui, Dr.TCM, R.Ac.
Treatment Program
Treatments consist of an initial assessment of the patient's condition
using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostic techniques.
These include physical inspection, verbal inquiry, auscultation,
pulse taking on both wrists and a tongue diagnosis. Upon precise
examination of the information presented, TCM diagnosis and a
treatment principle will be formulated based upon the individual's
needs. Treatments may include acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping
therapy, Tui Na massage and herbal prescriptions.
Clinic Techniques
Our clinic uses only disposable, sterilized, stainless steel,
filiform needles. The acupoints selected are cleaned with isopropyl
alcohol (70%) both before and after needling. The physician's
hands are scrubbed with soap, dried and rubbed with isopropyl
alcohol prior to needling.
Medical Services Plan
(MSP) Coverage
For MSP beneficiaries receiving premium assistance, MSP pays $23
per visit for a combined annual limit of 10 visits each calendar
year for the following services: acupuncture, chiropractic, massage
therapy, naturopathy, physical therapy and non-surgical podiatry.
Those who may be eligible for these supplementary benefit services
include:
• Seniors or students
• Income Assistance recipients
• Convention refugees
• Inmates of B.C. Correctional Facilities
• Individuals enrolled with MSP through the At Home Program
• Residents of long term care facilities receiving the Guaranteed
Income Supplement (GIS)
• Individuals enrolled with MSP as Mental Health Clients
• First Nations individuals with valid B.C. Medical Plan
coverage through the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch of
Health Canada.

a receipt for your acupuncture treatment(s) which are paid out-of-pocket,
for which you must request reimbursement directly from MSP.
Membership
With an annual membership of $240, receive 30% off all professional
acupuncture treatments, herbal remedies or Tui Na massage at the
ICTCM, Victoria.
